Disturbance Regimes of the North Saskatchewan Regional Plan Area

This report examines the current state of knowledge about natural disturbance in the North Saskatchewan region. Wildfire has been the most significant natural distrance in this region, both historically and currently. However, wildfire regimes have been altered by modern fire exclusion techniques, landscape alteration and climate change.  Both forest and grassland are part of the North Saskatchewan region, and the natural disturbance patterns on the various ecotones are reviewed.
