Oldman Watershed Council Update 2012

Andy Hurly, Vice Chair, of the Oldman Watershed Council updated the 2012 WPAC Summit, held in Milk River in September, on their group's successes, opportunities and challenges.

  • Successes: very active teams working on a variety of issues have brought knowledge and other partnerships to the watershed management plan, vision, risks, priorities and headwater plan.
  • Opportunity: connect with the South Saskatchewan Regional Plan and leverage community networks.
  • Challenges: tradeoffs around what to do. Access to data is the biggest challenge (e.g. forestry and well water data from the Government of Alberta)
