Coal Development Policy for Alberta

The Government of Alberta's overall policy for the development of the province's coal resources is designed to bring and maintain the maximum benefits, now and in the future, to the people of Alberta who own this resource. Exploration and development will be encouraged in a manner that is compatible with the environment and at times which will best suit Alberta's economy and labour force. NOTE: The policy was rescinded June 1, 2020.
