Cole Burton, research scientist at Alberta Innovates – Technology Futures, focuses his presentation on population density of white-tailed deer in the boreal forest in Alberta.
The need for the research was based on the fact that information is lacking on the ecology and population dynamics of the deer in this region. He discusses methods of data collection, the model used and the assumptions within the model, such as demographic closure. Conclusions and next steps are also addressed.
This presentation was a part of the Petroleum Technology Alliance of Canada Ecological Issues & Resource Access Forum. It took place in November of 2015.
