Michal Guzowski is the Coordinator for the new Land Reclamation International Graduate School through the University of Alberta, and his presentation is about the current accomplishments of this new school, as well as their future goals.
The intention of this school is to provide interdisciplinary and international training create qualified land reclamation professionals. It began in the autumn of 2012 and includes trips to domestic and international land reclamation sites, socio-economic context and environmental science knowledge, networking opportunities and soft skill development such as how to lead a meeting and conflict management.
Looking to the future, they have plans to create a mentorship program, expand research collaborations with international post-secondary institutions and secure additional funding.
This presentation was a part of the Canadian Land Reclamation Association Alberta Chapter AGM and Conference, in February 2014.
