Video - Wabamun Lake Update 2014. Presentation by Don Meredith

Don Meredith, of the Wabamun Watershed Management Council (WWMC), discusses Wabamun Lake at the Central Alberta Recreational Lakes (CARL) Forum.

Created in 2006, the WWMC recently produced the State of the Watershed Report to better understand the health of their lake. Residents on the lake were informed of the report and took a strong interest. The report is on their website. Their next step is to make a watershed management plan.

Since they don’t know how much natural shoreline vegetation exists, doing are doing a study of fish and invertebrates in the lake. They have also created a fertilizer brochure to hand out, to inform the public of the damage fertilizer can do to the lake ecosystem They are also interested in investigating the significance of the lake levels, since there is often either too much water in the lake or too little.

This presentation was a part of the Central Alberta Recreational Lakes Forum, at the Pine Lake Hub Centre, in May of 2014.
