Video - Lac Ste Anne Update 2014. Presentation by Robert Kohn

Robert Kohn, councilor in the Lac Ste. Anne County Council, gives an update about Lac Ste. Anne to the Central Alberta Recreational Lakes (CARL) forum.

He explains they are currently in the process of rewriting all the municipal development plans to modernize them, and they have closed campgrounds, because it is too difficult to control people’s behavior on them. Once better rules are in place, they will likely be reopened.

The north end of the lake is undergoing a sewer line replacement, which will also serve hamlets and county properties in the area. This was undertaken after a study found that forty five percent of sewer tanks in that area have failed.

The lakes in the county are high, and many have been for the last three years. One of the reasons for this is beaver dams. A current by-law in the county states that the owner of the property that has the dammed river or stream is responsible for paying to have the dam removed. Kohn is interested in having this by-law changed, since the damming of the lake affects all residents.

This presentation was a part of the Central Alberta Recreational Lakes (CARL) forum at the Pine Lake Hub Centre, in May of 2014.
