Video - IWMP Processes: Designing options for a sustainable watershed. Presentation by the Red Deer River Watershed Alliance

Staff of the Red Deer River Watershed Alliance (RDRWA) discuss their plans for an Integrated Watershed Management Plan (IWMP). RDRWA is a multi-sector NPO with a Board, small staff, and a base of volunteers, that shares information, does outreach and participates in public forums. They discuss recent accomplishments, such as the creation of the State of the Watershed Report, and plans for the future.

They are interested in designing their IWMP by using a social lab; a multi-stakeholder platform that addresses structural causes - not only effects - and is an ongoing platform that delivers results over time. In the upcoming months they will be developing Phase 1: Water Quality. Relationships and engagement on citizens are also a core focus.

This presentation was a part of the Alberta’s WPAC Summit in October, 2014. It was entitled Water Summit in the Valley: Innovation and Leadership in Sustainable Water Management, and hosted by the North Saskatchewan Watershed Alliance.
