Wade Clark is the Executive Director of Policy and Regulatory Alignment for Alberta Energy,and he describes the process of improving regulation of the oil and gas industry in Alberta, primarily through the consolidation of regulation under the Alberta Energy Regulator from the former ERCB and AESRD.
In particular, he talks about policy development processes that still resides with the Government of Alberta for oil and gas development and reclamation of industrial sites.
A new stakeholder engagement framework is the target for 2015 for both policy development and regulation. There are some other regulatory consolidations still to be addressed that Wade Clark mentions at the end of his presentation.
