Tim Romanow, executive director of the Milk River Watershed Council Canada (MRWCC), discusses the many watershed plans they are implementing. He talks about the uniqueness of the watershed and value of local fauna, and presents information about the reports they have created, such as the Trans-boundary Single Watershed Report.
MRWCCs approach to watershed management includes: field workshops, building partnerships and local expertise, local watershed contests, and building public support through achievements. He discusses the importance of partners such as municipalities to aid with accomplishing goals, and discusses recent projects such as their 9th year of surface water quality monitoring on the Milk River, and the Milk River Fecal Source Tracking Project.
This presentation was a part of the Alberta’s WPAC Summit in October of 2014; entitled: Water Summit in the Valley: Innovation and Leadership in Sustainable Water Management, and hosted by the North Saskatchewan Watershed Alliance.
