Video - Soil Science Needs to Get Dirtier, part 1. Presentation by Dr. Dan Pennock

Dr. Dan Pennock was a keynote speaker at the 50th Alberta Soil Science Workshop, Feb. 2013. Dr. Pennock provided a critical review of soil science education in Western Canada and job and research opportunities. It is the best of times and the worst of times. While soil science courses have never been taught to so many, soil science research and the issues in soil science are disconnected from the professional practise of soil scientists (research issues like climate change, food security compared to practice areas of fertility, land reclamation)

Dr. Dan Pennock is a professor of Soil Science at the University of Saskatchewan, Saskatoon, Sask. Dr. Pennock was made a Fellow of the Canadian Society of Soil Science in 2009.
