The Alberta Rural Development Network, in conjunction with the Alberta Rural Coalition on Housing and Homelessness (ARCH2 ), is proud to host the first national symposium dedicated to rural and remote housing and homelessness issues across Canada.
The Canadian Rural and Remote Housing and Homelessness Symposium provides an opportunity for individuals, organizations, communities, and government to share information, tools, training, and the expertise needed to address the unique and complex issues surrounding homelessness and housing in rural and remote Canada.
The Symposium will be held on October 24 - 26, 2018 in beautiful Canmore, Alberta: bordering Kananaskis Country and Banff National Park, this hour and twenty minute drive from the Calgary International Airport, is located in the heart of the Rocky Mountains- a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
This three-day symposium will feature a unique program with over 30 concurrent workshops and panel sessions, mobile tours, and renowned keynote speakers. Participants will leave the symposium with the tools and knowledge required to address housing and homelessness issues within their communities. Topics discussed will be framed within the context of rural and remote communities, and will focus on providing actionable tools and best practices to address these issues and improve the quality of life in rural and remote communities.
