The event will feature a presentation on the Emerging Trends in Real Estate® 2018 report—a publication from PwC and ULI—as well as a panel discussion with local leaders on how these trends are shaping their businesses. Emerging Trends in Real Estate® 2018 is a trends and forecast publication with a 37-year history, and is the most highly-regarded and widely-read forecast report in the real estate industry. Emerging Trends in Real Estate® 2018 provides an outlook on Canadian investment and development trends, real estate finance and capital markets, property sectors, metropolitan areas, and other real estate issues. Based on personal interviews with, and surveys of more than 900 of the most influential leaders in the real estate industry, this forecast will give you a head-up on where to invest, which sectors and markets offer the best prospects, and trends in the capital markets that will affect real estate.

Andrew currently serves as the PwC's Director of Real Estate Research. As the Director of Real Estate Research, and is responsible for monitoring all aspects of commercial and residential real estate, including space market fundamentals, capital market trends, regulatory changes and operational developments. For the past five years, Andy has co-authored the Emerging Trends in Real Estate publication. Andy is a frequent speaker on issues affecting the real estate market and has also authored numerous articles for internal clients and national real estate publications. Prior to assuming his current role, Andy served as the Managing Director of Real Estate Research for Principal Global Investors, a top 10 institutional real estate manager in the U.S. At Principal, Andy held a progressive level of analyst and management positions over his 25 year career and served as a voting and advisory member on a multiple real estate debt and equity investment funds. |

Wendy Waters is the Senior Director for Research Services & Strategy at GWL Realty Advisors, an institutional and pension-fund real estate portfolio manager with $12 billion in assets under management across Canada. Leading the national research team, her responsibilities include providing economic, demographic and market-trends analysis to support long-term asset acquisition, development and management strategies. She has been developing unique approaches to understanding Calgary's economic and real estate market potential since 2008. Wendy has been working in real estate research since 2002, first with Avison Young and the past 11 years with GWL Realty Advisors. She holds a Ph.D. in comparative-world and economic history from the University of Arizona (although she is a born-and-raised Vancouverite). At ULI BC, Wendy is on the management committee as the Chair of Mission Advancement--the liaison between the BC chapter and the global organization based in Washington DC.
