Alberta bat caves remain closed to public

Brown bats in caves within two of Alberta' provincial parks will be protected again this year as the caves will remain closed to the public. The closure is to prevent the spread of white-nose syndrome, a deadly fungus that has decimated bat populations throughout North America. As this article from the Montreal Gazette points out, the caves have both been closed since 2010, and bat populations in both seem to be stable and healthy.
