After the massive flooding in Alberta in 2013, Alberta Environment and Sustainable Resource Development is working on improving its system for forecasting floods and communicating with municipalites about flood risks. As this Global News report explains, forecasting flooding is difficult, but ESRD is developing new methods of tracking snow pack, rainfall and subsequent flood risks.
