Alberta government steps back from selling more energy leases on caribou range

24 square kilometers of caribou range was removed by the Alberta Government from a sale of energy leases this week. As this Calgary Herald article explains, there has been increasing pressure on the government to deal with lease sales in caribou habitat. Range plans for caribou herds around the province are in development, with an expected release date of next spring for the first four, with the remainder required by the end of 2017.
