Alberta to open consultations with First Nations about land-use policy

The Alberta Government has announced plans to move forward with consultations with First Nations communities in the Lower Athabasca Region. The talks are the result of advice received from a panel that looked into whether First Nations' concerns were adequately addressed in the Lower Athabasca Regional Plan. As explained in this Globe and Mail article, the intention is that the consultation process could lead to changes to the regional plan during the 2017 review of the LARP.
