Alberta shale formations hold huge amounts of oil and gas: Study

A newly-released study indicates that some of Alberta's shale formations hold vast amounts of oil and gas. As reported by the Calgary Herald, the research - from the Alberta Energy Resources Conservation Board and Alberta Geological Survey - found the potential for large amounts of natural gas, gas liquds and oil in the formations. The three areas of greatest potential - the Duvernay, Muskwa and Montney - are located in northwestern, north-central, and western Alberta.
