Alberta steps up to bat to prevent white-nose syndrome

The Alberta Government is working to protect bat populations from being infected by white-nose syndrome, a devastating virus that is having significant impacts on bat populations elsewhere in North America. As this blog post from Alberta Environment & Sustainable Resource Development explains, there are cave closures in effect, as well as decontamination procedures to be used when exploring caves that are not closed. In addition, Alberta will be participating in a North American program for monitoring bats in the province.
