Amalgamating some municipalities or redrawing boundaries are possible last-ditch solutions being considered to stop the ongoing infighting on the Capital Region Board. As reported in this Edmonton Journal article, Alberta Municipal Affairs minister Dough Griffiths has indicated that he would consider such actions if the Board is unable to resolve their differences, which have led to stalled decision-making processes. Similar fighting has occurred in the Calgary region, as well, leading to the appointment of a mediator this year.
