Beavers help out nesting geese, U of A researchers find

Beaver activity on ponds gives nesting geese an advantage, research from the University of Alberta shows. As explained in this Edmonton Journal article, ponds that have active beavers open up earlier in the spring, which allows geese to nest early. The advantage of beaver activity also goes to fish, as the oxygen levels in the water also go up. The research is published in the January edition of Mammalian Biology.
