Bird population declines in Alberta's boreal forest

An Edmonton Journal article reports today that bird populations in the boreal forest are declining due to the amount of forested area affected by development. The UofA's Biodiversity Monitoring Institute authored the study that looks at the relationship between development activity and bird populations.  74 species were included in the study, which focussed on the boreal forest across northern Alberta; the area has been affected by oilsands development, agriculture, forestry and commercial/residential development.
