Will a cold winter stop the spread of the mountain pine beetle? An entomology professor from the University of Montana says probably not. As reported in this Montana Public Radio news story, the mountain pine beetle is able to prepare for overwintering in cold temperatures, so most cold snaps will not kill off significant numbers of the pests.
