Cenovus Energy says that its flying rig pilot program was a success and they intend to do more. The rigs, which are brought in by helicopter, mean that the energy company isn't required to build roads, and subsequently reclaim the roadways. As explained in this Calgary Herald article, the proecss is better for the environment, particularly in sensitive areas. The rig can be operational year-round.
