Climate change helping BC forests recover from pine beetle, says study

Forests in BC that have been ravaged by mountain pine beetle may recover more quickly than expected, thanks to climate change. According to this CBC News article, a new study shows that the warmer temperatures resulting from climate change are speeding up forest growth, allowing the damaged stands to recover more quickly. Estimates show that by 2020 more carbon will be stored in the rehabilitated forests than is emitted from the dead and rotting trees.
