A former mine site in Colorado is using a variety of reclamation methods to bring back roads and waste rock piles. As this article from High Country News explains, revegetation and reclamation has been underway for some time, with compost and bio-char being used with success. A new project in the area is called Cow Stomp, where ranchers brought cattle onto newly seeded land to stomp and compost the seeds. Initial results look promising for the technique.
