Developer fights for water license as Okotoks defends limited supply

The Environmental Appleals Board will hear a case from a developer in the Okotoks area who was denied a water license in 2010. Alberta Environment & Sustainable Resource Development had originally granted the license, but that was appealed by the Town of Okotoks, and the license was rescinded. As this Calgary Herald article explains, the water in question was deemed to be reserved water that cannot be allocated. The developer contends that the water is not, in fact, from the reserved basin.
