Drought-stricken forests in BC, Alberta face new threat from insects

Forests in Alberta and BC could be facing an increased risk of insect attacks thanks to drought conditions. As this article from The Globe and Mail discusses, drought weakens trees and makes them more susceptible to insect infestations, including Mountain Pine Beetle. Coupled with the fact that hot and dry conditions enable the insects to develop faster, there are increased risks in forests this year.
