Earthquake threats won't stall fracking, industry officials say

A recent report from the BC Oil and Gas Commission that showed hydraulic fracturing was linked to small earthqakes will lead to increased monitoring and research, but won't stop drilling activity, according to this Globe & Mail story. The report (read more about it here) showed that many seismic events were linked to hydraulic fracturing in the study area, however only one of those was strong enough to be felt. Even so, industry groups can use the new information to help adjust their practices in the future, and further monitoring will be ongoing.
