Earthworms are an invasive species in the boreal forest, and have the potential to do considerable damage there. A project from the University of Alberta aims to stop the spread of earthworms the Alberta Worm Invasion Project. As this University of Alberta News article explains, the project's researchers are gathering data about the spread of the worms. One way they are doing that is via an app - the Alberta Worm Invasion Tracker - that allows people to log locations of earthworms.
