Edmonton wants to annex 15,600 hectares of Leduc County, including airport

The City of Edmonton believes that it will need approximately 15,600 hectares of land from Leduc County in order to accommodate future industrial and residential growth. As reported in this Edmonton Journal article, the City announced plans to proceed with annexation for the land between Edmonton and Nisku (including the Edmonton International Airport) and between Edmonton and Beaumont. Negotiations have been underway with the County, and then the proposal will go before the Municipal Government Board for approval.
