Alberta Environment & Sustainable Resource Development has issued an environmental protection order for the contaminated wastewater release from Obed Mountain Mine. The order to Coal Valley Resources Inc. and Sherritt International Corporation requires several recovery and reclamation actions, including:
- solids recovery plan
- impact assessment plans
- wildlife mitigation plan
- waste management plan
- remediation plan
Monitoring of the spill is also a requirement of the order.
