A recent study showing the high number of bird landings on tailings ponds has led to renewed efforts from the provincial and federal governments to find ways of minimizing impacts on wildlife. This Edmonton Journal article indicates that environment departmens at the federal and provincial levels are reviewing the study. Provincially, a new tailings framework is expected to be releseased in the fall.
