Footprint of old fur trading fort found in Rossdale Flats

Evidence of an early fur trading fort have been uncovered by archeologists digging in the Rossdale Flats area of Edmonton. As described in this article in the Edmonton Journal, the archeological team has identified a palisade trench from a fort dating back about 200 years. Artifacts have also been found from the same time period, giving a glimpse of what life may have been like in the early days of Edmonton's fur-trade history. The area being excavated is part of the Epcor power plant compound currently being decommissioned.
