Fort McMurray greenhouse to turn garbage into veggies

Fort McMurray has embarked on a pilot project that will see vegetables growing inside shipping containers at the landfill, using waste to produce the energy required to run the greenhouse. As explained in this CBC News post, they are using a containerized aquaponics system that doesn't rely on sun or soil to grow the plants. The artificial light and heat required are produced via a gasifier that uses waste wood chips to produce electricity.
