Fracking companies try to calm public fears with new code of conduct

A new code of conduct outlining standard practices for technical and environmental performance has been signed by eleven companies involved in hydraulic fracturing in Canada. The Petroleum Services Association of Canada spearheaded the project. As this Edmonton Journal article explains, the code of conduct was developed through consultation with the companies as well as community and environmental groups, local governments and landowners. The companies who signed the code of conduct operate in BC, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba.
