Grizzly bears overhunted in BC, say researchers

Researchers from Simon Fraser University and the University of Victoria have published a paper in Public Library of Science (PLoS) about the grizzly bear hunt in BC. The researchers suggest that population estimates used by the government when declaring the hunt sustainable are not accurate. As well, government targets for number of grizzlies permitted to be killed have been exceeded in half the population groups around BC. This CBC News report explains the researchers' position in further detail.
