Grizzly death toll drops in 2014, but road kill numbers high

Alberta Environment & Sustainable Resource Development released the 2014 numbers for grizzly bear deaths in the province. At least 19 bears were killed by poaching, vehicles or by landowners in the province, down from 31 in 2013. As this Calgary Herald article explains, the number of bears killed on roads was higher in 2014 than it has been in more than 10 years.
