Historic agreement reached to conserve large ranch on eastern slopes

The Nature Conservancy of Canada announced today that an agreement has been reached with 72 ranchers to protect their land along the eastern slopes of the Rocky Mountains.  As reported here by the Edmonton Journal, the agreement will allow the NCC to purchase a conservation easement for the 12,357 hectares of land. The agreement means that the land will be preserved for use as ranchland in the future, and will prevent the land from being sold for development, subdivision, cultivation or drainage.
