Huge honey bee losses across Canada dash hopes of upturn

A recent report from the Canadian Association of Professional Apiculturists (CAPA) indicates that about 29% of bee colonies across the country didn't survive over the winter, nearly double the losses from the previous year. Hardest hit were hives in Manitoba, Ontario and New Brunswick, as indicated in this CBC News report. All provinces, except for BC and Nova Scotia, had higher losses over the 2012-13 winter season than the previous year.
