Zebra and Quagga mussels are finding their way into lakes and rivers in Alberta, causing serious problems for the aquatic ecosystems. As this Global News report explains, a program has been started to check boats entering Alberta from other provices or states to make sure no mussels are being carried in. The mussels spread very quickly and can take over the ecosystem and ruin water infrastructure.
