The town of Beaumont's plans to annex 24 quarter-sections of land from Leduc County came as a surprise to County officials. As explained in this Edmonton Journal article, Beaumont has identified the parcel of land as necessary for their future growth needs. However, Leduc County only learned of the plans after Beaumont town council voted to proceed with negotiations for the land.
