Megacities' urban heat may warm up Canadian winters

Heat generated by large cities has an impact on weather much farther away than previously believed. New research, published this week in the journal Nature Climate Change and explained in this CBC News report, indicates that the city-generated heat rises into the atmosphere and can change air currents that determine weather. The result of this is warmer winters in many northern locations, as well as cooler autumns for parts of the US and Europe.
