Oilsands industry needs to speed up environmental fixes, panel says

A panel from the Council of Canadian Academies has released a study entitled Technological Prospects for Reducing the Environmental Footprint of Canadian Oil Sands. The study indicates that there are new technologies emerging to help address issues related to tailings ponds and greenhouse gas emissions, but that it will take strong leadership and risk-taking to make them work.
