Okotoks to eliminate cap on population growth

The council for the Town of Okotoks has voted to eliminate the cap on population growth it enacted in 1998. The cap, which limited the town's population to 30,000, was put in place as part of a sustainability plan, according to this Calgary Herald article. Current council members felt that the cap was limiting potential new opportunities. However, there are concerns about the town's ability to provide water for a larger population, as the current water supply from Sheep River can only accomodate 32,000 residents.
