After lifting their population-cap this month, the Town of Okotoks will be pursuing other sources of water to accommodate the town's growing population. According to this Calgary Herald article, the town council voted to lift the population cap because of the intense development happening just outside the town's boundaries. By allowing more growth within the town they feel it can be controlled or planned, and the town can benefit financially as well.
