A proposed bylaw amendment in Edmonton would specifically add urban agriculture as a land-use, allowing an easier process for people to apply for permits to set up urban agriculture operations. As explained in this Vue Weekly article, the change is thanks to the work of the Edmonton Food Council. Currently Edmonton has over 80 community gardens, and more than 25 farmers' markets.
