Research proves grizzlies prefer overpasses

Grizzly bears needing to cross the Trans Canada Highway in the Banff area seem to prefer to use overpasses rather than underpasses. These are the findings from a long-term ongoing research project in the area. As reported in this Rocky Mountain Outlook article, male bears will use a variety of structures to cross the highway (but prefer overpasses), whereas female bears will use overpasses almost exclusively.
