Road near caribou herd sparks anger

A new road being built in the area used by the Little Smoky caribou herd by Tourmaline OIl Corp could threaten the herd, according to the Alberta Wilderness Association.  As explained in this Edmonton Journal article, the road's construction has been approved by the province, and follows the government's regulations for protecting caribou habitat. The Little Smoky herd is Alberta's most threatened caribou herd, with an estimated 95% of its habitat affected by industrial uses.
