The Southern Foothills Study has been resumed to look at how human activities impact the landscape. The advisory group steering the project sees it as complimentary to the South Saskatchewan Regional Plan that is currently under development by the Alberta Government. As explained in this article from the Rocky View Weekly, the SFS is guided by a group of ranchers, landowners and municipalities.
